Moving rental equipment between two hotels

Practical guidance to prepare equipment rental between hotels arrangements before your Dominican Republic trip.

One holiday, two addresses

A beach stay followed by a few nights in Santo Domingo can work well with a mobility rental, provided the equipment journey is planned alongside yours. The important question is who moves the item on hotel-change day. Delivery to the first resort and collection from the second do not automatically include the journey between them.

List three milestones before choosing dates: the first handover, the hotel move and the final collection. A single itinerary helps the rental and transport teams identify a gap while there is still time to change the plan.

Choose how the equipment will move

If you will take the item in your transfer vehicle, provide its folded or assembled dimensions, weight and accessories alongside the passenger and luggage count. A shower chair, hoist or powered scooter can occupy a very different amount of space from a folding walker. Ask the transport team to confirm the load explicitly.

If the supplier will move it separately, agree pickup at the first hotel and delivery at the next one as two timed handovers. Ask whether you will be without the item in between. A separate relocation is a service to confirm and price; it is not implied by selecting another collection address.

Check the second room before you travel

A rental that fits one bathroom may not fit the next. Compare door openings, shower thresholds, turning space and storage at both properties. For a powered device, ask where it can be charged without obstructing the room exit. Send the hotel the actual product measurements rather than a generic photograph.

Check the first hotel’s checkout time and the second hotel’s arrival arrangements. Request any required delivery authorization at both properties. Handover is at the lobby if entry is permitted, or at the security gate if it is not. Agree who will receive the item, especially if the hotel reservation is in a companion’s name.

Review the booking total, then request any changes

Enter the intended delivery and collection addresses and dates in the rental search. Review the rental period and delivery or collection charges shown before paying. A move between hotels, an extension or a changed pickup address may require an amended booking; a message alone does not change the confirmed price or schedule.

Use a short handover checklist

  • Item name and all accessories, including charger or removable parts.
  • Exact resort and agreed lobby or security-gate meeting point, with any required hotel authorization.
  • Name and phone number of the person receiving or returning the item.
  • Agreed time window and contact for delays.
  • Receipt or acknowledgement after collection.

Keep these details with your confirmation. For the practical steps at each end of the rental, read delivery and returns.
