Choose a small historic route
The Colonial City is a reason to visit Santo Domingo, but a wheelchair itinerary should be designed stop by stop. Ask your guide to identify the landmarks you most want to see, the surfaces between them and places where an exterior view is a worthwhile alternative to entering a building.
Separate sightseeing from a long walk
A vehicle-supported visit can combine orientation from the vehicle with a short visit to a pre-checked square or venue. Agree where the driver can set down and collect passengers, rather than assuming every pedestrian street allows access. Include a shaded rest and a toilet stop in the proposed route.
Make lunch part of the access plan
Choose a restaurant for both its food and its usable entrance, table space and bathroom. Ask for a photograph of any threshold and confirm whether the accessible route is open at your meal time. A lunch reservation does not itself confirm those features.
Consider a city stay for a slower pace
For a visit spread over more than one day, compare Courtyard Santo Domingo and JW Marriott Santo Domingo room information. These are different hotel locations; choose based on your planned journeys as well as room facilities.
Turn the idea into a confirmed itinerary
Send your starting hotel, interests, wheelchair dimensions and preferred time away to the Santo Domingo tour team. The official Santo Domingo tourism guide provides destination background; venue-specific access still needs direct confirmation.
